Merck FrosstŐs team at Centre for Therapeutic Research actively seeks scientists devoted to creativity and intellectual curiosity and possess exceptional competencies in biochemistry, bioinformatics, cellular biology, molecular biology, analytical chemistry, process chemistry, pharmacy, pharmacology, information science, computer science, and spectroscopy.

The activities of Merck FrosstŐs Basic Research Informatics department are intimately related to the research process for new medications. The 15 member Merck Frosst Informatics team manages the flux of results and helps the researchers pull the information they need.

Another important research sector at Merck Frosst is devoted to the study of phosphatase enzymes, a category of molecules that compose the fundamental regulation mechanisms of the human body. Merck Frosst scientists, in collaboration with researchers at McGill University have discovered a phosphatase of the insulin receptor that may constitute a better target for the treatment of diabetes and obesity.
